Lindsay and Maree Sinclair want
to introduce the world of houseboating to boaters in Australia.
As
Australians, we are surrounded by water, so it is second nature to us to be
on or near water.
Since I was a child I have been involved with boats, either building them,
sailing them or racing them. As a young man, it didn’t matter to me if it
was a sailing skiff, a racing yacht, a ski boat, a big motor cruiser or a 10
ft dinghy with oars, if it floated, I would be there enjoying every minute
of whatever I could get up to on the water, then I discovered cars, girls &
airplanes. It was then the stark realization hit me that I probably needed a
steady job to pay for all this, so I joined the Air Force.
After twelve years in the military I changed tack and moved on into tourism
for about twenty years, traveling around Australia showing people from all
over the world our wonderful country. Intermingled with all this was family,
more boats, motor racing, flying at airshows as well as running an aviation
business.
Of course you can’t do all this without a fabulous wife to support you, keep
you under control, keep the home fires burning, as well as all the business
paper work and organizing a Parkinson’s Disease Support Group in her spare
time. Maree does all this with a passion as well as running
our household and reminding me of important things like grandkids birthdays.
She has always been the stabilizing factor in my life and I have always been
the destabilizing factor in hers, so life is always interesting and we
always do everything together.
Maree
and I have traveled extensively all over the world and we have been visiting
the USA for several years, initially in relation to our aviation business.
We are very impressed with America and have recently traveled some 12,000
miles in our RV around the United States looking at everything from the
Grand Canyon to Mt Rushmore. We have met lots of terrific people and have
made some great friends here. They in turn introduced us to your fabulous
houseboats and the beautiful lakes in Kentucky and Tennessee. This past year
we bought our own houseboat on Lake Cumberland, Jake Pyzik & Terry Miller
helped us immensely during the purchase and have been of great support to us
since. So we understand how difficult a process it can be buying a
houseboat, trying to find that one that is just perfect for your needs.
We hope to spend about five months in the USA each year sharing our
houseboat with family and friends on Lake Cumberland, and the other seven
months working in Australia (and in doing that we’ll dodge the winter months
in each country).
By joining Terry and her team to sell houseboats in Australia, we feel that
widening the market to our region will help everybody in the houseboat
industry, from manufacturers, their employees and suppliers, continuing
through to folks wanting to sell their boats to move on to something new.
We hope we can do a great deal for you at some stage.
Cheers for now,
Lindsay & Maree Sinclair
